Monster Jam: Urban Assault was released in 2008 as a sequel to Monster Jam: The Video Game. The game was released for Nintendo DS, Wii, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation 2. Unlike its predecessor, Urban Assault did not receive a release for the PC or Xbox 360. The game features 27 playable trucks and introduces racing in more urban environments compared to Monster Jam: The Video Game. Winning in specific modes unlocks rewards and videos.

Likely the last good Monster Jam game, Urban Assault delivers a solid experience. The soundtrack is good, barring a few odd songs prepared for the game itself. The truck selection is impressive, and the physics are professional and well-executed. While it could have had slightly better graphics, it remains very enjoyable, much better than the infamous Monster Jam: Crush It! I strongly recommend this gem if you want a fun Monster Jam game.

You will feel the twisted metal beneath you as you drive your legendary and globally favorite monster truck, such as Grave Digger, Maximum Destruction, Monster Mutt, El Toro Loco, Captain’s Curse, and Blue Thunder, or choose from the newest stars in the Monster Jam tour like Stone Crusher, Backwards Bob, and Spitfire Monster Truck. Your goal is to demolish every vehicle you see. For enthusiasts, Monster Jam: Urban Assault still offers stadium races and freestyle competitions with significantly improved gameplay compared to the original game. Mini-games have also been added, including entirely new games in the franchise such as Monster Jump, Truck Trickster, Skee Ball, and Air Strike. The player has the option to select a truck and compete in stadium races and freestyle events. Winning competitions advances the player to the next show. In the end, the player ends up in the World Finals.

The game offers various gameplay modes:

Stadium Racing: Race against another competitor.
Freestyle: The player is given one minute to perform freestyle stunts and earn points to win.
Speedster: The player is given the option to race against 3 other competitors in urban environments unlocked by winning races.
Circuit Race: The player races in urban environments with 5 other computer trucks. In the PS2 version, the number of competitors is only 3.
Head to Head: Race against 3 other computer trucks on smaller maps. Two trucks race in the opposite direction of the player, while one races in the same direction as the player.
Eliminator: Race against 5 other trucks on smaller maps than those in Circuit Race. In each lap, the last truck in the pack will be eliminated.
